These features remain relevant for enterprise avatar-based communication, productivity applications requiring gaze input, and mixed reality development. The Quest 3 subsequently matched many of these capabilities at a significantly lower price, which narrows the Pro's differentiation to its specific professional software integrations.

Face and Eye Tracking

Quest Pro's face tracking (mouth, cheeks, eyebrows) enables expressive avatars in virtual meetings — a feature with genuine value in enterprise communication platforms like Horizon Workrooms and Immersed. Eye tracking enables foveated rendering and gaze-based interaction for developers who build to it. These capabilities are integrated and reliable; they represent genuine enterprise workflow value for teams that have built around them.

Mixed Reality and Passthrough

Color passthrough at 3.7MP per eye quality is good but not exceptional — the Meta Quest 3 offers comparable passthrough at lower price. The Quest Pro's wide FoV pancake optics provide a better mixed reality experience than lens-equivalent Quest 2. For mixed reality applications requiring high-quality passthrough without Apple Vision Pro's cost, Quest Pro was the best option until Quest 3 launched.

Pro Touch Controllers

Quest Pro Touch controllers are self-tracking — they do not require the headset's cameras for tracking, allowing use below waist level without line-of-sight constraints.
