Meta Ray-Ban Display is Meta's first pair of consumer glasses with a screen. At launch Meta Ray-Ban Display was sold only at select US retailers such as Best Buy, LensCrafters and Ray-Ban stores, with a fitting demo recommended before purchase. A planned early-2026 launch in the UK, Canada, France and Italy was paused in January 2026.

The Display

The display sits in the right lens only, so it is a heads-up display rather than augmented reality: it shows flat panels of information, not 3D objects anchored in the room. UploadVR reported 600x600 resolution, about a 20 degree field of view and 42 pixels per degree, which is sharp for text. With up to 5,000 nits it stays readable outdoors, and Meta says only about 2% of the light leaks out, so people around you barely see it.

UploadVR's later hands-on with Snap Specs used the Display as its reference for image quality, describing Specs as "not even anywhere near as clear and uniform as the Meta Ray-Ban Display HUD." For reading messages, captions and directions, that clarity matters more than field of view.

The Meta Neural Band

The Neural Band is the most novel part of the package. It uses surface electromyography (sEMG) to detect finger gestures, including pinches, swipes and handwriting, with your hand resting at your side or in a pocket. Engadget's reviewer said it feels more innovative than any wrist-based device they had tried, and that together with the glasses it feels like a significant milestone for smart glasses. UploadVR lists about 18 hours of battery and IPX7 water resistance for the band.

• Frame size. Engadget's reviewer found the frames extremely chunky and too wide for their face. At 69g it is noticeably heavier than Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 at about 51.5g.
• Battery. Meta rates about six hours, but Engadget noted that display-heavy tasks like video calling or live translation drain it much faster.
• Prescription range. Only -4 to +4 is supported, which rules out many strong prescriptions.
• First-generation rough edges. Engadget described it as very much a first-generation device with issues still to be worked out.
