XR Funding Report: Q3 2026
Every verified XR funding round and acquisition from July to September 2026, led by Even Realities' $150M raise and a wave of money into smart glasses optics.
Quick Answer
Every verified XR funding round and acquisition from July to September 2026, led by Even Realities' $150M raise and a wave of money into smart glasses optics.
The third quarter of 2026 was a smart glasses quarter. The largest round went to a glasses maker, half of the deals went to the companies that make glasses optics, and the only acquisition was a component supplier buying display technology for glasses. Headset companies were absent from the list entirely.
This report covers every XR funding round and acquisition from July 1 to September 28, 2026 that we could confirm from a company announcement or a major trade outlet, with the trailing twelve months for context. It follows our Q1 2026 funding report, and every deal below is also in the XR funding tracker with its source.
**Quick Answer:** Q3 2026's largest XR deal was Even Realities' $150M pre-Series B at a $1B valuation (July 6). The quarter's other verified deals were Morphotonics (EUR 40M), W4 Games ($18M), ENGO Eyewear (EUR 5.1M), Avalon Holdings (about CNY 100M) and TDK's purchase of OQmented's display assets.

The Deals
Even Realities: $150M pre-Series B (July 6)
Shenzhen-based Even Realities raised $150M in a pre-Series B round led by Meituan and Tencent, with HSG (formerly Sequoia China) participating, according to TechCrunch. The round valued the company at $1B. CEO Will Wang framed the company's pitch around privacy, calling smart glasses "probably the most personal computing device people will ever wear."
It is the third $100M-plus round for a glasses company in 2026, after XREAL in January and VITURE in February. None of the three is a headset maker.
ENGO Eyewear: EUR 5.1M (July 23)
Grenoble-based ENGO Eyewear makes lightweight heads-up glasses for runners and cyclists. It raised EUR 5.1M from Ventech, ODYSSEE Venture and Bpifrance Amorcage Industriel, Auganix reported, and plans to hire 20 people in France, expand internationally and make its display smaller. It is a small round, but it shows investors backing narrow, single-purpose glasses rather than only general-purpose AR.
TDK acquires OQmented's display assets (August 18)
TDK bought the assets of OQmented (legal name kiiz Technologies GmbH), a German developer of MEMS laser beam scanning displays, and folded them into TDK AIsight, its AR display business for smart glasses. Neither company disclosed a price. The deal was covered by Auganix, which quoted TDK AIsight CEO Te-Won Lee saying it reinforces TDK's "position in a highly promising market segment."
W4 Games: $18M Series B (August 25)
W4 Games sells enterprise support for the open-source Godot Engine, including engine-level OpenXR and Android XR support. It raised an $18M Series B led by Tencent, with OSS Capital, LUX, Naval Ravikant and Tobias Lutke's family office, bringing total funding to $33M (Auganix). For XR developers, the relevant part is that a major investor is funding an open engine with engine-level Android XR support.
Avalon Holdings: about CNY 100M Series B (September 7)
Beijing-based Avalon Holdings makes silicon carbide waveguides for AR glasses. It raised about CNY 100M in a Series B from returning backer Plum Ventures and two new state-owned investors, Deyang State-owned Capital and Ningbo State-owned Capital, TechTimes reported. The money goes into a plant in Deyang, Sichuan, that targets one million units of annual capacity by 2027.
Morphotonics: EUR 40M (September 21)
Dutch company Morphotonics builds nanoimprint lithography equipment used to manufacture waveguides. It closed EUR 40M in an extended round that began in 2024, with 3M Ventures, Innovation Industries, BOM and Invest-NL, plus the EIC Fund, Ernij Next and the European Investment Bank. TechCrunch reported that its process is used for waveguides in products including Meta Ray-Ban Display, Even Realities and Magic Leap, and that the company is also moving into optical components for data centers.
What the Quarter Signals
The money is moving down the stack. Three of the six deals were in optics and display manufacturing: Morphotonics, Avalon and TDK's OQmented purchase. Earlier in 2026, LetinAR raised $18.5M for AR optics (May), Myrias Optics extended its seed round for nanoimprint metaoptics (May) and AlphaLum raised CHF 3.4M for transparent display optics (January). Investors appear to be positioning for glasses volume rather than betting on any single glasses brand.
Glasses brands raise large, headset makers do not. In the twelve months to September 2026, the device-company rounds of $100M or more all went to companies making or building glasses: Sesame, XREAL, VITURE and Even Realities. We found no verified headset maker round of that size in the same period.
Chinese strategic capital is prominent. Even Realities was led by Meituan and Tencent, W4 Games by Tencent, Avalon by Plum Ventures with two state-owned funds, and XREAL's January round came from supply chain partners. Several of these investors are operators or industrial backers rather than pure financial funds.
Developer tooling is getting funded through AI and open source. W4 Games (Godot) this quarter and Tripo AI's $50M for 3D generation in March both target content creation for games, simulation and XR rather than XR alone.
The Trailing Twelve Months
For context, these are the other verified XR and spatial computing deals from September 2025 to June 2026. Each has a source link in the funding tracker.

| Jun 15, 2026 | AutoVRse | Venture round | $2.4M | Singularity AMC, Lumikai |
World Labs' $1B round is the largest in the period. It builds world models that generate 3D environments rather than XR hardware, so we list it as spatial computing and keep it out of the device comparisons above. For longer history, see every $100M+ raise, acquisition and IPO in AR/VR and our report on XR companies that raised over $1M.
Methodology
We include a deal only when we could open a company announcement or a report from a major trade or business outlet (TechCrunch, Road to VR, Auganix, PR Newswire and similar) that states the amount, the date and the investors. Amounts stay in the currency the company announced. Where a source names no series, we say so rather than guess one. Rounds reported only by data aggregators, or that we could not confirm, are left out, so this is a floor, not a census. Last verified September 28, 2026.
